LaunchCat is a new self-updater that works with the Homecoming Launcher. While it’s fully capable of installing Homecoming from scratch, it is primarily intended to keep both itself, and the required Wine package for Mac, up to date.
As of right now, LaunchCat is in Beta until any issues that might come up have been shaken out, and it proves to be at least as dependable as Island Rum. It was built rather quickly, and it descended directly from Island Rum. Therefore at some point it may come up for complete rewrite using smaller code.
LaunchCat is a much more functional answer to an obnoxious question: The question of why the Homecoming Installer for Mac package could not be properly signed, and therefore required a workaround to use it on a lot of Macs. LaunchCat has a fully signed version that should eliminate this issue.
